Posters, flowers commemorating the dead instead of seasonal decorations: Itaewon mourns dead a year after Halloween crush

SEOUL — A year after 159 Halloween revellers were slaughtered in a throng trample in South Korea, the resources’s night-vigor district of Itaewon was quiet on Saturday (Oct 28), the location’s usual celebrations replaced by mourning for those died.

In the days before Halloween, seasonal layouts in some casings adorn the streets that dwelling the district’s hottest bars and clubs, but this year posters and blooms hallowing the dead took their location, and young users rejoiced elsewhere.

Lee Sung-minutes, that has stayed and operated in the Seoul district for years, alleged he did not also realise it was the Halloween weekend break upwards until early Saturday.
