Pope says impeding migrant rescues at sea is 'gesture of hate'

MARSEILLE, France — Pope Francis said on Friday (Sept 22) that migrants that pitfall sinking at sea “have to be rescued,” discussing it “a responsibility of humanity, a responsibility of civilisation”.

Chatting at the overture of a tour centred on mobility crises in the Mediterranean, he said that damaging such rescues is “a motion of despise”.
